Veteran Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji is making headlines after winning her first National Film Award for Best Actress for her powerful performance in Mrs Chatterjee Vs. Norway. In a recent interview, she opened up about her career, competition in Bollywood, and her relationship with cousin sister Kajol.

When asked about the rivalry between the two successful actresses of the 90s and 2000s, Rani dismissed the idea of competition. Speaking to ANI, she said:
“There was no competition. When we do films, we compete with ourselves. You’ll compare my latest film with my previous one, not with another actor’s. Competition is always with your own craft.”
She added, “I would have been heartbroken if the audience ever said I was better in earlier films. As actors, we must keep improving with every decade.”
Rani Mukerji on Rivalry in Bollywood
Rani emphasized that every actor’s journey is unique. “The choice of films for each actor is different. What I choose for my career will never be the same as another actor’s. So there was never competition between actors.”
She further explained that in ensemble films, actors focus on giving their best in each scene. “The audience ultimately compares performances, not careers.”
