Music composer Palash Muchhal was hospitalised in Sangli just a day after the wedding of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana was postponed due to her father’s sudden health scare. The couple was set to get married on November 23, but celebrations were halted when Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, fell critically ill and was rushed to the hospital.
Palash’s mother, Amita Muchhal, confirmed that Palash has now returned to Mumbai and is resting while recovering. According to her, Palash was deeply shaken by the incident and suffered severe emotional stress.
“Palash is extremely attached to Smriti’s father” – Mother’s Statement
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Amita revealed the emotional turmoil her son faced:
“Palash ko uncle se bahut zyada attachment hai… Smriti se zyada yeh dono close hain. Jab unko hogaya toh Palash ne hi decide kiya ki jab tak uncle thik nahi hote, phere nahi honge.”
She added that after the haldi ceremony, Palash was kept indoors and became overwhelmed with emotion.
“Rote rote tabiyat kharab ho gayi… 4 ghante hospital mein rakhna pada. IV drip chadi, ECG aur tests hue. Sab normal aaye, par stress bahut zyada hai.”
Wedding Postponed After Medical Emergency
The couple mutually decided to postpone the wedding after Smriti’s father fell ill. Dr. Naman Shah of Sarvhit Hospital confirmed that his symptoms resembled a heart attack, likely caused by physical or mental stress due to wedding preparations.
Amita added that Palash’s sister, singer Palak Muchhal, has left Sangli to be by her brother’s side.
How the Events Unfolded
Amita recalled that just a day before the health crisis, Smriti’s father had been extremely cheerful:
“Ek din pehle unhone bahut dance kiya… Instagram par Stories daal rahe the. Phir baraat ki planning ke dauran unko takleef hui.”
When his condition worsened, he was rushed to the hospital, prompting the couple and families to pause the celebrations.
“Sirf phere baaki the… Par humne sab cancel kar diya. Smriti aur Palash dono bahut upset hain.”
Despite the emotional setback, Amita is hopeful:
“Sab theek ho jayega. Shaadi bahut jald hogi.”
