Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called for structural reforms in the Telugu film industry, placing special emphasis on improving worker–producer relations and ensuring fair practices in every sphere of Tollywood. Speaking after a high-level meeting with top film producers and directors at his residence, the Chief Minister made it clear that his government will not allow any monopoly or parallel system to control the industry outside the legal framework.
Mr. Reddy stated that the film industry must maintain a healthy working atmosphere built on trust, transparency, and humanity. “The government will stand by both producers and workers. We will prepare a comprehensive policy that involves every stakeholder — producers, workers, and government officials — to safeguard interests on both sides,” he said.
The Chief Minister explained that cinema is not just an entertainment sector but a major employment generator and a cultural asset for Telangana. He insisted that producers must treat cine workers with dignity and fairness, while also encouraging workers to cooperate to ensure smooth production schedules. “We will not tolerate exploitation or dominance by any single group,” he added firmly.
Government Mediation in Cine Workers’ Disputes
Mr. Reddy intervened recently to resolve a cine workers’ strike that had threatened to disrupt ongoing film shoots. According to him, such disputes harm the industry’s global reputation and economic stability. “The film industry cannot afford unnecessary disruptions. My government will monitor developments and create a new framework — a handbook for the future of Telugu cinema,” the Chief Minister declared.
He further revealed that the state government will invite representatives of various cine worker unions for separate discussions. “Every voice will be heard. Our ultimate goal is to protect producers who invest in the industry while ensuring the welfare of those who work behind the scenes to make films possible,” he assured.
Positioning Tollywood on the Global Stage
With Hyderabad already attracting major international productions, Mr. Reddy emphasized the need to strengthen Tollywood’s footprint globally. “Efforts will be made to ensure that more Telugu films are shot within Telangana while positioning Tollywood as a leading hub of quality cinema worldwide,” he said.
The Chief Minister also announced plans to include cinema-related skill development programs at the upcoming Skill University. This initiative is expected to produce trained professionals for every branch of filmmaking — from acting and directing to editing, visual effects, and production design. “We will create world-class facilities to train young talent so they are job-ready and capable of competing globally,” Mr. Reddy promised.
Key Film Industry Leaders in Attendance
The meeting was attended by CM’s advisor Vem Narender Reddy and Telangana Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju. Several influential producers and directors were also present, including Allu Aravind, D. Suresh Babu, Gemini Kiran, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore, Trivikram Srinivas, Boyapati Srinu, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Vamshi Paidipally, Anil Ravipudi, and Venky Kudumula.
These industry leaders welcomed the government’s proactive stance. They shared their concerns regarding rising production costs, labor disputes, and the need for better infrastructure to attract big-budget productions. They also expressed willingness to collaborate with the government in preparing a robust policy framework that balances commercial interests with worker welfare.

The Chief Minister’s assurance marks a turning point for Tollywood. By pledging to protect both investors and workers, Mr. Reddy has set the stage for a balanced ecosystem. His focus on structural reforms, skill development, and global outreach signals that the government is serious about creating a sustainable future for the industry.
“Innovation, transparency, and respect for human dignity will guide the future of our film sector. Together, we will make Tollywood an example for the entire nation,” the Chief Minister concluded.
