Anita Advani Accuses Rajesh Khanna’s Family of Abandonment and Property Grab

Anita Advani, who was long rumored to have shared a close relationship with India’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna, has once again stirred controversy with explosive allegations against his family. Speaking on REEL Meet REAL, Anita accused Khanna’s family of abandoning him during his most difficult years while inheriting his entire estate after his death. She also issued a stern warning about the inevitability of “karma.”

“Everyone abandoned him, yet they took everything”

Recounting the painful chapter of Khanna’s personal life, Anita recalled how his marriage with actress Dimple Kapadia had collapsed in 1982. “Dimple had left him, and for 30 years, he had lost everything. Everyone abandoned him. He was stuck—no divorce, no resolution,” Anita said.

She alleged that by the time discussions over personal and financial matters began, Khanna’s situation had worsened beyond repair. “Everything went completely out of control—beyond anyone’s reach, including his own. Yet, the family ended up with his entire property. That in itself is a big story,” she remarked.

Legal battle over Khanna’s estate

Highlighting details from a recent Supreme Court statement, Anita claimed that an earlier order against her held “no real weight.” She insisted that no one could carry material wealth after death and questioned why deceit was necessary in personal relationships. “Every relationship deserves respect. Karma comes around on its own. No matter how smart you think you are, you can’t escape it,” she warned.

The legal dispute over Khanna’s property continues as Anita fights for what she believes is her rightful share in the actor’s legacy.

Rajesh Khanna: India’s First Superstar and His Tumultuous Life

Rajesh Khanna, fondly called “Kaka” by fans, was a phenomenon in Indian cinema during the late 1960s and 1970s. Known for classics like Aradhana, Anand, Kati Patang, and Amar Prem, Khanna became India’s first true superstar, commanding an unmatched fan following.

However, his personal life was far from perfect. Married to actress Dimple Kapadia in 1973, the couple’s relationship was strained. By 1982, they separated though never formally divorced. Despite years of estrangement, Dimple returned to care for him during his final years when his health began to fail.

Final years in solitude

Khanna reportedly lived a reclusive life at his Mumbai bungalow, Aashirwad, with only a few close friends and confidantes for company. His health began deteriorating around 2011 due to a prolonged illness, widely believed to be cancer, though the family never publicly confirmed it.

On 18 July 2012, Rajesh Khanna passed away at the age of 69. His death marked the end of an era in Bollywood. He was cremated with full state honours, leaving behind a mixed legacy of immense cinematic success, complicated relationships, and ongoing disputes over his wealth and estate.

Anita Advani’s Stand on “Karma” and Relationships

Anita Advani’s latest statements add fuel to the already sensitive issue of Khanna’s personal and financial legacy. By invoking “karma,” she suggested that those who betrayed Khanna during his darkest days would eventually face consequences.

“Why cheat like this? No one takes anything with them when they go,” Anita said, emphasizing the need for respect and fairness in every relationship—whether personal or professional.

With the legal battle over Khanna’s estate still unresolved, this chapter of Bollywood history continues to unfold in public view, blending courtroom drama with the enduring mystique of India’s first superstar.
