Ian Watkins, a musician with a history of child abuse, is currently in critical condition after being held hostage in a disturbing incident.
Lostprophets singer and convicted paedophile Ian Watkins has been hospitalized in critical condition after being held hostage and attacked by three fellow inmates. Watkins, who was sentenced to 35 years in prison for a string of child sex offences in 2013, was injured when he was “roughed up” and threatened with a knife. Riot officers eventually ended the siege and freed Watkins. He was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary for life-saving treatment. The prison officers are credited with potentially saving his life. Watkins’ attackers are said to have targeted him due to his notoriety. The incident took place on a Saturday when there is typically less staff on duty. Watkins pleaded guilty to the attempted rape of a baby and 10 other sex offences in 2013. He was described as a “determined and committed paedophile” and the judge heard graphic details of his crimes. Police are currently investigating the incident at HMP Wakefield.
