Angus Cloud, the beloved actor who portrayed Fezco on the HBO show “Euphoria,” passed away on Monday at the age of 25 at his family home in Oakland, California. His representative, Cait Bailey, confirmed the news, sharing a statement from his family. The cause of death was not specified, but it was mentioned that Angus had been struggling intensely since the recent passing of his father, Conor Hickey, who was laid to rest the previous week.
In the family’s statement, they expressed some solace in knowing that Angus is now reunited with his father, who was his closest companion. They also acknowledged Angus’s openness about his mental health battles and hoped that his passing would serve as a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not suffer in silence.
Born Conor Angus Cloud Hickey on July 10, 1998, in Oakland, Angus attended the Oakland School for the Arts. A profile in The Wall Street Journal from 2019 revealed that he was involved in his high school’s theater department, working on sets, lighting, and sound. Interestingly, before his breakthrough role on “Euphoria,” Angus had never acted before.
Angus’s discovery happened in 2018 when a casting agent spotted him walking along Mercer Street in Greenwich Village. At that time, he was working as a waiter in Brooklyn and initially believed the approach was a scam. However, a friend convinced him to pursue it, leading him to the role that would change his life.
In an interview with The New York Times last year, Angus admitted that he had never desired to act prior to this opportunity. He believed that he happened to be at the right place at the right time. His portrayal of Fezco quickly gained popularity among fans, and the show’s creator decided to keep his character alive beyond the original plan for Season 1. Angus continued to play Fezco throughout Season 2.
Aside from “Euphoria,” Angus also appeared in the thriller film “Your Lucky Day” and an untitled project by Universal Pictures, both of which are yet to be released.
Surviving Angus Cloud are his mother, Lisa Cloud Hickey, and his two sisters, Molly Hickey and Fiona Hickey.
