New Delhi: Prateik Babbar will be seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s feature film ‘India Lockdown’, the first film in the country to depict the hardships of the lockdown imposed due to the Kovid-19 pandemic. The actor has played mostly urban characters on screen. Prateik has tried to break that image with this project and has associated himself with the kind of work that his mother and legendary actress Smita Patil used to do.

Smita Patil became a star because of her amazing acting in films like ‘Mirch Masala’, ‘Manthan’, ‘Bhumika’. When Prateik Babbar was selected to play the role of a migrant laborer, he explained that it was an appropriate opportunity for him to pay tribute to the late actress’ legacy.

Talking with Hindustan Times, he said, ‘I was deeply attached to it, because the first time I met Madhur Sir, he said,’ Prateek your mother used to play such characters. If you do this role with all your heart, then it can be a tribute to Smita Patil. I said again, ‘When do we start? Every day on the set I used to think about him. everyday! Whatever be the outcome of the film, this character is dedicated to this community and my mother.

An attempt was made to present the bitter truth of life in the film.
The actor also explained, ‘I immediately got down to work, because we know the kind of life these people lead. Our heart was already there. I wouldn’t call it pathetic, but it feels bad to see them go through so much. Both Sai and I were very engrossed in our characters. It is a big responsibility to represent this community. It was necessary to present this bitter truth of his life.

‘India Lockdown’ is the story of people trapped in lockdown
The film ‘India Lockdown’ explores the lives of different characters who get caught in a dire situation arising out of the lockdown due to the Corona pandemic. Shweta Basu Prasad and Aahana Kumra will also be in the film. Seeing Prateik Babbar in this film will be a very special experience for the audience.
