During the conversation, Shweta told how the audience sees things differently in the post Kovid era.
Shweta Basu Prasad says that there has been a change in the selection of films by the audience. Earlier the films which used to do well at the box-office, now those films are not able to show any wonder at the box-office. She further says that now these films may go on OTT. According to Shweta, despite earning money from films that hit the box office, they do not have a recall value. She says, “Of course, films should make money and bring money into the industry. I am happy with it. But, I don’t think those films have a shelf life and that’s okay too.”
Taking the discussion further, Prateek says that the audience’s liking for films has definitely changed. It is a matter of 50-50. I do not want to name any film or actor, but these days nonsense films are also running at the box-office.
South films are winning the hearts of the audience
Expressing his opinion on this subject, Madhur Bhandarkar says that after the lockdown, the audience has got to see all kinds of shows on OTT. He says that many films from the South like ‘Kantara’, ‘RRR’, ‘Kartikeya’ and ‘Pushpa’ have managed to pull audiences to the theatres, while only two Bollywood films, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and ‘The Kashmir’ Only ‘files’ have been able to do this.
