Director Nikkhil Advani has revealed the behind-the-scenes story of how the cast of Rocket Boys was picked. The upcoming Hotstar Specials series, which is based on the inspiring true story of India’s first missile factory, has a talented cast that includes actors like Jim Sarbh, Sushant Singh, and others.

Advani shared that Sarbh, who plays the role of Homi J. Bhabha, was a given. He said, “I’ve been a big fan of Jim and always wanted to work with him. When this role came up, there was nobody else in my mind.”

Speaking about selecting the other cast members, the director explained how he wanted to cast actors who could bring their unique qualities to their respective characters. He said, “The casting process was quite intricate. I wanted to cast actors who could bring their own personality and energy to the characters they play.”

Advani also mentioned how he was looking for actors who had a strong command over the Hindi language, as the show has a lot of dialogues in the language. “It was important that actors had a good understanding of Hindi, since their characters were set in the 80s, and the language used back then was different from what we speak today,” he added.

The director also revealed that they had a workshop session for the actors to get into the skin of their respective characters. “We had a workshop session where the actors got to know each other, spoke about their characters, and interacted with the real Rocket Boys to understand their motivations and personalities,” he shared.

Rocket Boys is set to release on August 27 on Hotstar. The show has been creating a lot of buzz since its trailer was released, and fans are excited to see how the story about India’s journey into the world of missile technology will be portrayed on-screen.
