Mother kept screaming in the hospital, Manoj Kumar had lost her younger brother
Manoj Kumar disclosed this in an interview given to ‘Rajya Sabha TV’ a few years ago. Manoj Kumar had told in it, remembering the days of the struggle, how he had to live in the refugee camp and how he had lost his younger brother. Manoj Kumar had told, ‘I was the eldest son and I had a younger sister Lalita. When the partition took place, the mother gave birth to a younger son, who was named Kuku. She and my mother were very ill. At that time we were in the refugee camp. Mother was in the hospital and riots were taking place. The doctors and nurses would go underground as soon as the sirens sounded.

When Manoj Kumar beat up doctors and nurses
Manoj Kumar had told that at that time the health of his mother and younger brother was very bad. Mother was giving voice to doctors but they were all underground. Manoj Kumar had said, ‘Mother screamed. My brother Kuku was also gone. I was very angry. I picked up a stick and went underground and beat up some doctors and nurses badly. My father came there and somehow handled the situation. After this Manoj Kumar’s father made him swear that he would never beat or violence.
Poles eaten by police, father’s oath stopped
According to Manoj Kumar, he had become very angry and started beating on talk. Because of this, he had to eat police batons once. But after being given an oath by his father, he never beat him again. Although there were many occasions when the actor felt like pulling and slapping, but the oath given to the father would stop his hand.
Films of Manoj Kumar, won National Award and Padma Shri Award
Manoj Kumar made his debut in films in 1957. His first film was ‘Fashion’, in which he played the character of an 80-year-old. Manoj Kumar got the lead role in ‘Kanch Ki Gudiya’ three years after the debut film. After this Manoj Kumar did many memorable films. These include ‘Piya Milan Ki Aas’, ‘Greenie Aur Rasta’, ‘Martyr’, ‘Who was she’, ‘Two Body’, ‘In the lap of the Himalayas’, ‘Gumnaam’ and ‘Sawan Ki Ghata’, besides ‘East and Paschim’, ‘Yaadgaar’, ‘Mera Naam Joker’, ‘Balidan’ and ‘Roti Kapda Aur Makaan’ are included in many films.
