What I feared happened at the box office! While the reign of Bollywood films at the ticket window has met with competition from South Cinema to Hollywood, Hindi films are getting piled up like sand castles. After ‘Jersey’, ‘Heropanti 2’ and ‘Runway 34’ were badly beaten and now Ranveer Singh’s ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ has also come to its knees on the fourth day. This film of Divyang Thakkar, released on Friday, did a business of just Rs 3 crore on the opening day. Whereas now on the fourth day on Monday, its earnings are only 1.70 crores. In four days, this film has earned only Rs 13.45 crore (Jayeshbhai Jordaar Day 4 Collection). Whereas, on the contrary, the Hollywood film ‘Doctor Strange 2’, which is going through a bad phase, has also earned better than this in the last four days. ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ is in its second week and in the last four days, the film has collected a net collection of Rs 17.75 crore (Doctor Strange 2 Box Office Report).
It is clear from the figures how bad the condition of ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ is. Despite being adorned with stalwarts like Ranveer Singh, Boman Irani, Shalini Pandey and Ratna Pathak Shah, the film has failed to captivate the audience. The film neither got a good response from single screen theaters nor from multiplex audience. In such a situation, after a month old ‘KGF: Chapter 2’, Hindi audiences have to rely only on Hollywood films in theatres.
Second consecutive blow to Ranveer Singh
It was expected about ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ that it would do good business in Gujarat. But it didn’t happen. Not only this, this is also the second consecutive setback for Ranveer Singh. His last release ’83’ may have entered the 100 crore club, but the audience rejected the film outright. In such a situation, getting beaten for the second consecutive film is also not a good sign for Ranveer Singh’s career graph. However, his film ‘Circus’ with Rohit Shetty will be released next. Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky and Rani’s love story’ is also in the pipeline. There are hopes, but Ranveer will have to work hard.
‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ also fell at the box office, why are Bollywood films getting back to back flops?
‘Doctor Strange 2’ earns Rs 120 crore
On the other hand, Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ‘Doctor Strange 2’ may have got a cool response in India, but the film consolidated its position on Monday by earning Rs 2.25 crores on Day 11. The film has so far earned Rs 120.64 crore from the Hindi version in 11 days. The film had earned Rs 6.50 crore on the weekend as well, which is more than the 4.75 crore of ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’.
Preparations are on to make KGF 3 a franchise like Marvel Universe, ‘Rocky Bhai’ will start shooting in October
