The love story of ‘Doosra Aadmi’, made under the banner of Yash Raj Films, was much ahead of its time. The character of this film surprised people. In the life of a man, the second, third, fourth, fifth woman is neither considered bad by the society nor there is an uproar over it. But in a woman’s life, the ‘other man’ cannot stand it. Although there has been a slight change in the thinking of people over time, 45 years ago it was not easy to think and engrave it on the screen.
Yash made Talwar a director because of Rishi Kapoor
In the 70s, Ramesh Talwar brought an extra-marital story of a young couple and an older woman to the screen in a very beautiful way. The story of Ramesh Talwar becoming director in this Yash Raj film is no less interesting. According to media reports, once Rishi Kapoor had told Yash Chopra in a good mood that if Yash Raj Films launched Ramesh Talwar as a director, I would work in that film for free. After listening to Rishi, Yash Chopra told Ramesh to get ready to start his innings as a director. Earlier, Ramesh used to work with him as an assistant.

Talwar wanted to cast Sharmila Tagore for the role of Rakhi
Yash Chopra made the film ‘Doosra Aadmi’ in which Rishi and Neetu worked and Ramesh Talwar became the director. Ramesh Talwar became the director for the first time with this film. Advised to cast Rakhi for the character named Nisha in this film. Ramesh had told in an interview to BBC that ‘I told Yash ji that I want to take Sharmila Tagore for this role, her personality and style are fit for this role. Yash ji told this thing to Rakhi laughing. The next day I see that Rakhi was standing right in front of us in a getup with Sharmila Tagore. The way Sharmila used to wear sunglasses on her head, the way she used to wear saree. Seeing Rakhi in the same way, I told her that the look that Nisha wants, she has come in exactly the same way. I will be very happy that you will work in my first film’.
Talwar did not listen to Yash Chopra’s advice
Rakhi did such an amazing performance in this film that Rakhi was also nominated for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress for Filmfare that year. In ‘Second Man’, it was shown that an older woman falls in love with a boy younger than her. The first screening of the film was held for Yash Chopra. After the show, Yash praised Ramesh’s work and advised to make a change in the film. Said that the last scene from the film, in which Rakhi breaks down after looking in the mirror, should be removed. Yash felt that the audience would not like the disappointing climax. But Ramesh was adamant and refused to do so. Although Yash, being the producer of the film, could have put pressure on him to make his point, but left the decision in the hands of Ramesh Talwar. When the film was released, it could not taste success at the successful office.

Ramesh Talwar regretted later
Ramesh Talwar’s ‘Doosra Aadmi’ was the first and last film with Yash Raj Films. All the songs of this film were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and music was given by Rajesh Roshan.
