New DelhiPiracy has been a big problem for the film industry for years. In the era of OTT, it has increased further. Now the quality of pirated films is equal to the original films. In an attempt to curb this menace, the Delhi High Court has banned the distribution, hosting, streaming and downloading of Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Ram Setu’ on 23 bad websites.

The High Court emphasized on curbing piracy and dealing with it strictly. According to media reports, the producers and writers of the film took the matter before the court. He reportedly compiled a list of 23 video-sharing websites that offer people to download links to movies and web series.

According to the media report, the court said that in view of the investment made in the production and promotion of the film and the exclusive right vested in it under the provisions of the Act, this court prima facie agrees with the plaintiff that if the bad websites allow the film in any way If it spreads, it will affect the plaintiff financially and will also reduce the value of the film.’

The petition reportedly states that it was the custom of the industry to first release the film and then make it available for viewing on different platforms. However, websites have been making copies of the film and making them available for viewing, downloading and viewing along with the theatrical release of the film in order to make a false profit.
