In English-Vinglish, directed by Gauri Shinde, Sridevi played the character of Shashi Godbole, a woman who does not know English, despite being from a successful small business family. Due to which not only her children, husband and family, she has to face inferiority complex from others as well. Shashi joins an English speaking course after her husband and daughter mock her for not speaking English so that she can gain her self-esteem.

English Vinglish recently completed 10 years of release. The film was highly praised by the audience and critics. Meanwhile, Gauri Shinde has expressed her desire to work with her daughter Jhanvi Kapoor after Sridevi. In a recent interview, Gauri Shinde expressed her desire to work with Jhanvi Kapoor.

In an interview with entertainment portal Pinkvilla, Dear Zindagi director Gauri Shinde said- “We talk about films because we know each other. She is like a little girl to me. I am very close to him, we discuss films and of course I want to work with him. We also meet as friends. So yes, I would really love to work with Janhvi.”

Talking about her gap with the direction, Gauri said- ‘I want to make such films, which excite me. I want to make such films, which are something new not only for the audience but also for me. I just want to make films with honesty. And then I expect the spectators to stand outside the ticket window. I need a strong reason to start a film. I want to make a film now because a lot of time has passed. It will start soon.
