Singer told IANS, “The big challenge was to make Lyle his own, to make the Indian soundtrack like the original and not the dubbed version. Shawn Mendes lent his voice to Lyle, who has a thin voice in the original soundtrack. His voice suits Lyle, as the film traces Lyle’s journey from childhood to adolescence.
He went on to say, ‘I had to act really young and tone my voice down for the character of Lyle. It took me some time to do this. But, once I figured out the formula, things got smoother.
The actor also benefited from lending his voice to an animated character. He says, ‘When a singer lends her voice to a character, they use everything possible to make the lines and vocals as authentic as is possible for the actor.’
He further added, ‘At times I walk around the mic while singing and dubbing to bring in some things in the song or the dub line and that helps me a lot, which I can use to my potential as an actor. I find it. ‘Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile’ directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon is in theaters.
