Govinda’s team clears the air: Divorce reports are “old news”

However, both the actor’s manager and his lawyer have firmly denied any ongoing marital discord, calling these reports recycled news from months ago.
According to a report, Sunita Ahuja allegedly filed a divorce petition at the Bandra Family Court on December 5, 2024, citing grounds such as adultery, cruelty, and desertion. The report reignited conversations surrounding the couple’s 38-year-long marriage, which has faced rumours of trouble since early this year.
Manager dismisses claims as outdated
Shashi Sinha, Govinda’s long-time manager, spoke to PTI and downplayed the latest round of speculation.
“This is the same old news which came out six-seven months ago. Sunita had filed a divorce petition six-seven months ago, now everything is getting settled. In a week or so, everyone will hear the news,” he clarified.
Sinha further added that the family is looking forward to celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi together, dismissing the notion of an imminent separation.
“The whole family is going to celebrate the Ganesh Chaturthi festival together, for which Sunita is busy doing the preparation,” he said.
Lawyer also refutes fresh claims
Govinda’s lawyer, Lalit Bindal, echoed similar sentiments, confirming that the divorce petition was indeed filed earlier this year but insisting there is no new development. Bindal labeled the current speculation as “old news,” adding that efforts are underway to resolve differences.
Both Govinda and Sunita were unavailable for comment.
Speculation dates back to early 2024
This is not the first time the couple’s relationship has made headlines. In February 2024, reports of Sunita filing for divorce surfaced, citing “misunderstandings” as the reason for marital discord.
