Bobby Deol Jokes About Aryan Khan’s Endless Retakes; Shah Rukh Reveals Late-Night Call
The preview launch of Aryan Khan’s debut web series, The Bads of Bollywood*,** turned into a warm and humorous evening at YRF Studios, Mumbai, on Wednesday. The event was packed with star power, with Shah Rukh Khan donning the role of emcee and Gauri Khan stepping on stage as producer, to introduce their son Aryan’s first directorial venture.
A Starry Evening at YRF Studios
The evening began with Shah Rukh welcoming the show’s ensemble cast, which includes Bobby Deol, Lakshya, and Sahher Bamba. As Shah Rukh brought his old friend Bobby Deol on stage, the actor took a moment to applaud Aryan’s vision.
“It’s very difficult to translate what you write on paper into the emotions you want on screen for every character. Aryan has done that beautifully. From mature characters to young ones, he has brought out the best in everyone,” Bobby said, praising the young director’s clarity and command.
Bobby Deol’s ‘Complaint’ to Aryan
However, Bobby didn’t miss the chance to lighten the atmosphere with a friendly complaint.
“Woh alag baat hai usne bahut nichoda humein. Bahut mehnat karvayi humse. Main bas dekhta rehta tha, bolta tha ‘one more,’ and I’d say, ‘koi baat nahi beta, one more.’ Shuru mein laga kam karvayega, lekin uske ‘one more’ band hi nahi hue,” Bobby said with a laugh.
(It’s another matter that he really pushed us and made us work hard. He kept asking for ‘one more take.’ At first, I thought it would be only a few retakes, but they never ended.)
Shah Rukh Khan’s Late-Night Call Anecdote
Shah Rukh Khan then shared his own humorous experience, revealing how Bobby once reached out during the shoot.
“Main ek baat bataun — ek raat Bobby ne mujhe phone kiya, ‘aa jaa yaar, bahut takes le raha hai ye, ab mujhko jaana hai,’” SRK said, chuckling.
(One night Bobby called me saying, ‘Come over, he’s taking too many takes, I need to leave!’)
The audience responded with laughter, highlighting the camaraderie and easy rapport between the Khans and Bobby Deol.
