India’s secular fabric has always celebrated love that transcends religion — and one of Bollywood’s most beloved couples, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, are living examples of that unity. Shah Rukh, a Muslim, and Gauri, a Hindu, tied the knot in 1991 despite belonging to different faiths, and their marriage remains one of the most admired love stories in Indian cinema.
The couple shares three children — Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan, and AbRam Khan — who have grown up in a home that beautifully blends both religions. But what religion do the Khan kids actually follow?
Gauri Khan On Balancing Faiths At Home
In a throwback episode of Koffee with Karan (Season 1, 2005), Gauri Khan opened up about her family’s religious dynamics and how they maintain harmony at home.
She said,
“There is a balance. I respect Shah Rukh’s religion, but that doesn’t mean that I would convert and become a Muslim. I think everybody is an individual and follows their religion. But, obviously, there should be no disrespect. Like Shah Rukh would not disrespect my religion as well.”
Aryan Khan On Following His Father’s Faith
Talking about her eldest son Aryan Khan, Gauri revealed that he identifies deeply with his father’s faith.
“Aryan is so into Shah Rukh that he would follow his religion, I feel. I mean, he will always say, ‘I am a Muslim.’”
Gauri also recalled how her Hindu mother reacted to Aryan’s statement.
“When he tells, ‘I am a Muslim’ to my mother, she gets, ‘What do you mean?’ She doesn’t get upset, though. She is actually dealing with it. But it’s true.”
Aryan’s Night Prayer Routine
The star interior designer also shared a heartwarming detail about Aryan’s bedtime ritual.
“Aryan has this little prayer at night. He says both. First he says, ‘I’ll say Mumma’s prayer,’ then he says, ‘I’ll say Papa’s prayer.’”
The conversation offered fans a rare glimpse into how the Khan family gracefully merges two religions — creating a space of mutual respect, love, and balance.
Aryan Khan’s Upcoming Debut
Years after that candid chat, Aryan Khan is now all set to make his directorial debut with a web series premiering on Netflix in 2025. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Shah Rukh and Gauri’s eldest son step into the entertainment world — this time, behind the camera.
