Rahul’s innings of 100 runs came off 197 balls, including 12 fours. After completing the milestone, he celebrated by raising his bat and adding a playful whistle gesture, which instantly won the hearts of fans. Unfortunately, he was dismissed by Jomel Warrican soon after the lunch break.

The proud moment was made even more special by Athiya’s heartfelt post on Instagram, where she shared a picture of Rahul’s century celebration with the caption: “The best for his best.” Fans and followers quickly flooded the post with congratulatory messages, adding to the celebratory mood.

This knock was Rahul’s first Test century at home since December 2016, when he scored 199 against England in Chennai. With a gap of 3,211 days, this is the longest wait by any Indian batter between two Test hundreds at home.

The year 2025 has turned out to be Rahul’s finest in Test cricket, scoring 649 runs in just seven matches at an impressive average of 54.08, including three centuries and two fifties. His memorable performance also included being the third-highest run-scorer in the Test series against England earlier this year, where he accumulated 532 runs at an average of 53.20.

At stumps on Day 2’s first session, India stood at 218/3, with Rahul (100*) and Jurel (14*) unbeaten at the crease.
